Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announces Super-specialty Hospital for Jorhat, Cancer Hospital in Jorhat soon

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said today that a Super-specialty Hospital would be set up at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) campus in Jorhat and construction of the Cancer Hospital in the same medical college would be complete by this November. 

The Chief Minister also said that the Assam government was planning to restructure the functioning of medical colleges in the state. Dr Sarma said this in an interaction with Doctors during his visit to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital today.

Elaborating further on the restructuring of medical colleges in the state, Chief Minister Dr Sarma said that the State government would hold a meeting with the Principals of the medical colleges in the month of September to give final shape to the road map in this regard. 

Emphasizing on ensuring better services to the people, the Chief Minister called for upholding best practices by the medical staff. He also directed medical authorities to take strict action against those who remain absent from duty without authority. 

The Chief Minister also said that construction of the Cancer Hospital at Jorhat Medical College premises would be ready by November this year. He further informed that a Super-specialty Hospital would also be set up at JMCH campus besides introducing paying cabin facility soon.

Assam’s Ministers Dr Ranuj Pegu, Atul Bora, Jogen Mohan, Sanjay Kishan, Members of Parliament Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MLAs Hitendranath Goswami, Renupama Rajkhowa, Bhabendranath Bharali, Bhaskarjyoti Baruah, Principal of JMCH Dr. Ratna Talukdar were present during the visit of the Chief Minister, a district official from Jorhat informed.
