Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma greeted the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-uz-Zuha today. In his Eid message, the Chief Minister said Eid-Uz-Zuha is a holy festival celebrated by the followers of Islam across the world and that the festival teaches the tenets of sacrifice and compassion “and empowers us to win over negative feelings like hatred, greed and enmity”. “It is also an occasion to celebrate the bond of universal brotherhood ”, said Dr Sarma in his message. The Chief Minister further stressed on the importance of maintaining Covid19 protocols while observing the festival of sacrifice.
In his Eid-ul-Adha message, Assam’s Industries & Commerce and Minorities Welfare Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said “Id-Ul-Zuha is a holy festival symbolizing eternal love, peace and service to the humanity” and added that the festival would “strengthen the bond of brotherhood, compassion and inspire us to work together for peace and prosperity of the state.”
Prominent media publisher and senior editor of Gana Adhikar Media Network, Shahjahan Talukdar, an influential community leader, extended his heartiest warm wishes to people across the state and beyond on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and urged all to observe the festival in the true spirit of sacrifice and compassion for fellow brethren, nations and mankind as professed by the religion of Islam and its last prophet Muhammad.
The well known social worker Talukdar also appealed to community preachers, spiritual leaders and socially responsible public figures of the community to encourage people of the faith, to strictly abide by Covid social protocols of Government and Medical authorities during observance of the holy festival this week.
