As the state of Assam like the rest of the country continues to grapples with the scourge of Covid pandemic, Indian Doctors’ Association (IDA) of Houston, Texas in the US, has donated essential medical supplies and equipment to the people of Assam through the Indian Red Cross Society, Guwahati District Branch.
These essential medical items were formally handed over to National Health Mission, Government of Assam today.
AK Absar Hazarika, Chairman of the Guwahati Brach of the Red Cross, formally handed over these medical materials to Dr Zaman, Consultant, National Health Mission in a formal ceremony here in the city.
Chairman of the Red Cross Guwahati Branch Absar Hazarika commended the contributions rendered by IDA Houston, Texas and its associates Dr Jignesh Shah, MD and Dr Sangeeta Saikia, MD — both ‘frontline’ Doctors in the US – and for expressing their solidarity with the people of Assam in this testing time.
Speaking about the Indian Red Cross Society, Absar Hazarika said that “the Indian Red Cross Society will always work selflessly in the field of human services” and added that “it is our duty to stand by them in times of public distress … in this hour of crisis we all should stand together to fight unitedly against Covid-19 pandemic”
He also reiterated that the Red Cross would continue to extend all possible support to the Health Department of the state in its battle to wipe out the Covid19 for good.
Dr Zaman, Consultant, National Health Mission Assam praised the Indian Doctors Association-Houston, Texas and the Indian Red Cross Society’s Guwahati unit for extending their helping hand and efforts during this tense time for the state.
Today’s handing over ceremony was attended by a bevy of state government officials, senior journalists, medics and other prominent persons of Guwahatii city.
